Today, this concept is especially valuable wherever it matters to understand another person’s intentions — in empathy, learning, and everyday teamwork.

The format combines individual and group practical techniques. 

 

BODY METAPHORS IN INTERCULTURAL ADAPTATION AND COMMUNICATION

The ability to reflect on one’s own feelings, concerns, distress, and stress as an outside observer is inherent in human nature and can be purposefully developed in the context of intercultural adaptation. This approach allows us to better understand ourselves and our feelings. By identifying and using bodily metaphors, as well as recognizing negative emotions in intercultural communication and their hidden connections to stress and anxiety, we can effectively adjust the communication process.

Focused observation of the body metaphor associated with oppressive stress in intercultural adaptation not only transforms it but also simultaneously reduces the stress and the oppressive state associated with it.

This is a surprisingly simple technique for intercultural adaptation that relatively quickly enables us to cope with stress and depression in intercultural communication without outside help.
